Skin Care Tip: Contrary to what most people believe, a cleansing lotion is far more effective in removing makeup than a gel or foaming cleanser—even though it doesn’t always feel like it. Many people (especially those with oily skin) prefer gel cleansers because they like that tight feeling after they wash, but many gel cleansers are loaded with drying detergents that strip and dehydrate the skin. All of the Renée Rouleau gel cleansers are sulfate-free and will not strip the skin, but they are recommended for morning use, not for heavy makeup removal. Cleansing lotions contain various oils and emollients that when massaged onto dry skin, work to dissolve and break down the emollients and oils from your makeup and your own natural secretion.

How to properly remove your face makeup: Apply a quarter-size of cleansing lotion to dry skin and massage in circular motions for 30 seconds. Wet your fingertips and massage through again for 10 seconds. Rinse well and wipe over face with a baby washcloth (they are gentler than a regular wash cloth) or Renée Rouleau Facial Sponges. *You must give a final wiping action with the wash cloth or sponges because that is what actually lifts off the makeup that has been dissolved…

In France, French women use cleansing lotions to clean their skin, they rarely use foaming cleansers. And we all know, the French are famous for taking beautiful care of their skin!
