It’s Me, Renée: August 2013 Edition

This is my second post for the It’s Me, Renée feature and it was very well received so I’ll continue to do this feature when I have good stuff to share. You can see my first post here

OUR NEW ADOPTED DOG: My husband is originally from France and when he was young his mother rescued dobermans, so he got a love for this dog breed early on. When we got together, he wanted to continue the tradition and so I’m happy to say that we have just adopted our 9th doberman pinscher in 14 years. We had two pass away in the past year so our big boy, Duke, needed a companion. We love our new girl, Vada, who, like all of our dogs, we adopted from Doberman Rescue in Grand Prairie, Texas. She’s around age one, has a ton of energy and is fitting in very well in both our household and our lives. I’m a huge advocate of adopting dogs rather than getting from a breeder, so I hope you consider this option when looking for a new furry friend.

CALIFORNIA ADVENTURES ON A MOTORCYCLE: My husband and I embarked on an 866 mile motorcycle trip around California. We both rented Harley Davidson motorcycles in LA and got out on the open road for some fresh air and adventures. We went out to the Mojave Desert (hot!) and stayed in a vintage airstream which was a fun experience. It’s an airstream trailer park out in the middle of nowhere called Kate’s Lazy Desert and it’s owned by Kate from the B-52’s music group. (Watch this video of the airstream on Instagram here.) We then ventured up to San Luis Obispo and spent the night at the famous Madonna Inn. It’s known for its “imaginative interior design” and it sure had that! The theme of our room (all rooms are decorated differently) was a Merry-Go-Round, complete with plastic animals, sparkly walls and bright lights. It was weird and wacky, just like we had heard. We then rode up the Pacific Coast Highway 1 to Big Sur for some beautiful views of the ocean, along with some serious hairpin turns. With our motorcycles weighing over 600 lbs, you sure have to pay attention to the road and not the view to avoid tipping over! We then stayed in a yurt at Treebones which is a modern adaptation of the ancient shelter used by Central Asian nomads for centuries. It was a great “glamping” experience. (Watch this video of inside the yurt here.)

NEW SKIN PRODUCTS I’M WORKING ON: We’re in the process of creating two new eye creams that will launch later this Fall. Moisture Boost Eye Repair (I think that’s what we’ll be naming it) will be an updated version of our popular Synergy Eye Cream. It will have more moisturizing, line-plumping ingredients as well as Snap-8 which is a Botox-like peptide to correct expression lines. I’m absolutely loving how the new formula is coming out!

The second eye cream is Brightening Eye Therapy (I think that’s what the name will be). It contains skin “illuminating” ingredients that help reduce the appearance of tired eyes with dark circles along with Haloxyl which contains a combination of amino acids that stimulate your own detox enzymes to work more efficiently in eliminating accumulation of dark pigment released from the red blood cells. It’s very brightening and hydrating. I’m loving this one too for use in the morning!

NEW WEBSITE COMING SOON: The biggest business project I’m working on is the launch of the all new ReneeRouleau.com, hopefully in November 2013. We are completely re-designing the site inside and out. The new features will include:

Full Re-Design
We’re outfitting the site with a bold eye-catching new design.

and so much more!

See which upcoming cities I will be making appearances here.

REFINERY 29: One of my very favorite websites is Refinery29 and I’m excited to now be an official contributor as their celebrity esthetician for skin care.
