How Does Demi Lovato Care For Her Skin?

demi lovato with Renee Rouleau

Over the course of the past several years, I’ve had the pleasure of giving facials to Demi Lovato and introducing her to my exclusive skin care line which she loves using. Her skin is beautiful and she pays a lot of attention to her skin care routine.

In fact, recently when I gave Demi a facial, she tweeted to her 5M+ followers saying “Getting an AMAZING facial as we speak from the super sweet @ReneeRouleau!! Best I’ve ever had!!! 🙂

See Demi without makeup on here and see her (video) talk about her skin care routine here.

Demi was the beautiful February 2012 cover girl of Seventeen Magazine and below you can see a recap of the skin tips I shared with the magazine on how Demi keeps her skin glowing. (See her on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine here saying “My favorite feature is my skin.”)

“I use all Renée Rouleau skin care products” says Demi.

Renée Rouleau maintains Demi’s gorge skin with proper care (she loves her Luxe Mint Cleansing Gel (discontinued), Triple Berry Smoothing Peel, and Hawaiian Nourishing Cream) and regular treatments. “Due to hormonal changes, it’s common for teens to struggle with acne. But even if you don’t have it, it’s still important to start young with good skin care habits,” says Renée. So read on for these expert tips on how to put your best face forward!…

Avoid Picking at the Skin

The truth of the matter is, a blemish usually lasts 5-7 days, but the red or dark scar from picking at the blemish can linger for weeks — or even months.

Don’t Over Dry the Skin
Be sure to purchase cleansers that are labeled ‘sulfate-free’ and avoid the ingredients Sodium Laureth (or Lauryl), Sulfate, and Ammonium Laureth Sulfate. These ingredients can be extremely dehydrating to the skin. Try my Luxe Mint Cleansing Gel — it’s a favorite of Demi’s!

Protect with SPF
Studies confirm that the majority of wrinkles that will appear later in life are from the sun exposure that you get up until the age of 18. My favorite sunscreen ingredient for teens is Zinc Oxide. Not only does it give great sun protection, but is also antibacterial on the skin and can prevent breakouts while feeling lightweight. Daily Protection SPF 30 is very lightweight and will not clog the pores or cause acne.

Eat a Healthy, Well-Balanced Diet
Despite what you may have heard, chocolate and greasy foods do not cause you to breakout. Some teens can get breakouts from too much dairy or from too many acidic foods, such as fruit and tomatoes. Obviously the goal with any teenager is to get them to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet, but for the most part, foods don’t affect the skin as much as you may have been told.
