But certainly adjusting your skin care routine is important, especially when you can feel or see that your products aren’t working as well as they used to. Read: Does Your Skin Get Used To Products and Stop Working? Now that summer is here and the weather is hot here in Texas, my skin is certainly letting me know that I need to lighten things up. Can we say oil slick? I’m a skin type #2 but I switch around some products depending on what my skin needs. Which skin type are you? Here are the changes that I’m personally making in my own routine for summer. My morning routine: Step 1: While I love the Purifying Face Wash in the winter, I like something that cleans a bit deeper in the summer so I switch to using the Luxe Mint Cleansing Gel. Plus, it’s so refreshing when the weather is hot and humid… Step 2: I use the Elderberry Toner year-round. I love it and it works well for me all the time. Step 3: In the summer, I use the White Tea Soothing Complex most days instead of the Vitamin C&E Complex. While I so love the Vitamin C&E since it’s so great for lightening brown spots that appear in the summer, it can be a bit too hydrating during the daytime. The White Tea is more water-based, but still gives potent antioxidants. Plus it’s a bit more calming for my heat-induced redness. Step 4: Daily Protection SPF 30. My skin loves this year-round and doesn’t feel heavy even in the summer. I usually use the Rosemary Mint Cleanser in the winter so I like something a bit more soothing for redness. Step 2: Elderberry Toner again. Step 3: Since the Vitamin C&E Complex is so essential to use during the summer when my brown spots start to creep up from the heat, I use this as my nighttime serum instead of during the day. Step 3A: On alternating nights, I use the Glycolic Serum 10% to keep my skin exfoliated and smooth. I use the 17% formula in the winter, but for summer, I like to use the milder 10% version. Step 4: As much as I love the Hawaiian Nourishing Cream, I just can’t use it in the Texas summers as it makes my skin too hydrated and causes my skin to feel too moist during the day (even though I only use it at night). I switch to the Sheer Moisture which gives my skin the perfect amount of oil-free hydration as as the names implies–it’s sheer. Step 5: And I can never forget using eye cream – a must! I switch to the Firming Eye Therapy during the summer since it’s a bit lighter in weight than the Synergy Eye Cream.
