Does Living in a Rainy Climate Cause You to Have Fewer Wrinkles?
With family in Seattle and my international travels to London with my growing company, I have had the opportunity to observe skin in both these cities and based on my observations, the answer is no. People do not have fewer wrinkles in rainier climates. The reason for this is simply that the sun does not have to be shining in order to get skin damage. There are two types of rays: UVA rays and UVB rays. UVB rays are the skin-tanning and skin-burning rays that increase melanin in the skin and give your skin color. The UVA rays are the aging rays that cause premature lines and wrinkles, as well as skin cancer. In the case of living in a rainier climate, despite people perhaps spending more time indoors, UVA rays from daylight can still penetrate through windows in your car, home, or office. So when it is raining, people are exposed to these. Even under an umbrella, on a rainy day, there is still daylight that reflects on the skin… Read more April 16, 2012 by Renée Rouleau Does Secondhand Smoke Cause Damage to My Skin?
So what does this mean for your skin? Simply put, you’re getting much of the skin damage that smokers can get – if not more, and you’re not even a smoker! Among many things, secondhand smoke affects the skin greatly because collagen-destroying enzymes (MMPs) ramp up when exposed to tobacco smoke causing increased wrinkling and visible aging of the skin. Read: Do You Have Smoker’s Lines But Have Never Smoked? So if you’re someone who lives with smokers or works in smoky places, you’ll want to either avoid this or follow these tips to prevent skin damage. Use skin care products that stimulate collagen. Peptides are a powerful ingredient that when used regularly will help with the formation of new collagen. Peptides are a chain of amino acids, that when used regularly will help with the formation of new collagen. Look for peptides like Caprooyl Tetrapeptide and Matrixyl 300. Use Intensive Firming Serum since it is loaded with peptides and is a great product to prevent wrinkles. Firming Eye Therapy also uses peptides and is amazing for the delicate eye area to keep it firm and moist… April 11, 2012 by Renée Rouleau Could Botox Actually Be Making You Look Older?
For those who get BOTOX® Cosmetic, you know how it can make an incredible difference in the reduction of visible lines and wrinkles to promote younger-looking skin. But what you don’t know is there is a downside to Botox – one that is recently getting more awareness. Because Botox paralyzes muscles and makes them immobile, the long-term loss of muscle may cause the skin to lose fullness, which will actually make the overall face appear older! A youthful face is not only free of lines and wrinkles (which is where Botox comes into play), but young-looking skin is also full and plump… April 9, 2012 by Renée Rouleau Do Your Eyes Get Red and Sensitive? Your Facial Cleanser May Be the Problem
But did you know that the cleanser you wash your face with could also be a cause of irritation to your eyes? The reason is because when you wash your face, even though you may be very careful to not get a cleanser near your eyes and keeping your eyes closed, when you splash your skin to rinse off your cleanser in the sink, you’re splashing the entire face, including your eye area. Cleansers with ingredients such as peppermint, menthol, lavender, spearmint and lemon, while beneficial to the skin, can get on your lashes and travel into the eyes resulting in red, dry, irritated eyes. Synthetic fragrance used in skin care products could also be the cause of this irritation. (All the Renée Rouleau skin care products do not use synthetic fragrance.).. Of all the areas of the face, the eye area is the most sensitive. The inside of the eyes is very reactive and prone to irritation from particles from eye makeup and allergens in the environment. In addition, the skin around the eyes is extremely thin, making even using an eye cream difficult for some. (Many eye creams are loaded with synthetic fragrance and heavy oils that can seep into the eye causing eye irritation. Not the
