The Best Professional Exfoliating Treatment For Sensitive Skin

Exfoliation in the spa or skin clinic is essential for clearing clogged pores, fading acne scars, stimulating cell turnover and revealing fresher, younger looking skin. Out with the old, in with the new.

But what professional exfoliating treatment is best for sensitive skin types? The answer is, something that won’t disrupt capillary activity and create unnecessary redness. Enter ultrasonic exfoliation. It is a fabulous treatment that I use on all my clients in their facial treatments.

How it works is, an antioxidant water-based solution is applied to the skin to loosen surface dead skin cells. A guided spatula, activated by ultrasonic sound waves, (28,000 vibrations per second) spins the water molecules and lifts the dry skin cells off the skin. While doing this, the water solution is also being infused deep into the skin to allow the new skin cells to get hydrated. The end result is well exfoliated and hydrated skin, without any visible redness or irritation. It’s essentially a water based peel.

Personally, I like to do a gentle acid peel beforehand (like Triple Berry Smoothing Peel) to start the exfoliation process, so when I use the ultrasonic tool it exfoliates deeper into the skin to give better results. After the ultrasonic exfoliation, I like to apply a deeply hydrating serum, like Bio Radiance Night Serum, since skin metabolism is increased which allows for better penetration and absorption of skin care products.

Another benefit of ultrasonic exfoliation, is that it’s very effective for clearing out clogged pores. When the blade is angled and used in crevices such as in the chin or sides of the nose, you can remove dirt, old oil, and even blackheads. The skin is left soft, fresh, clean and glowing.

For a quick way to plump up your skin, and revive that youthful glow without causing irritation, ultrasonic exfoliation is truly the way to go.
