What Exactly is a Night Cream?

There are a lot of misconceptions about what a night cream is. Yes, a night cream is technically a moisturizer that you use at night but many cosmetic companies use the term “night cream” in the name of their products for the sole purpose of assisting consumers with differentiation. However, it is perfectly acceptable to use a moisturizer at night that does not include the word, “night,” in it.

The truth is you can use any moisturizer at night that is compatible with your skin type (see our nine skin types) and one that does not contain sunscreen.

So the rule is moisturizers with SPF are meant to be used during the day and moisturizers that do not have sunscreen in them should be used at night. See the collection of Renée Rouleau moisturizers
