Have You Gotten Your Annual Mole and Skin Check?

Despite much awareness about skin cancer and sun safety, many people often overlook the importance of getting an annual skin check at a doctor’s office to ensure that no mole or suspicious growth goes unnoticed.

On a recent trip to Dublin, Ireland, I passed by a mole screening clinic and thought to myself that it was a genius idea. In the States, dermatologists and doctors who you would typically see to get your annual mole check have an array of different specialties, but having a clinic where their specialty is JUST skin cancer screenings makes a lot more sense to me. Plus, by having clinics specifically named “Mole Screening Clinic” increases awareness about preventing melanoma. Irish people are often fair-skinned redheads, making them more susceptible to skin cancer, which is I’m sure why these clinics are more common.
