Renée Rouleau Reveals Her Secret For Relieving Dry, Cracked Heels

Renee Rouleau with a client

From as early as my teenage years, I have suffered from thick, dry, hardened, calloused heels. When they get really bad, they will crack and bleed and cause tremendous pain. Every summer when it’s time to get out the sandals and flip flops, I’m always embarrassed to reveal my feet because they just look so gross. Countless pedicures, buying special callous files and sanding down my heels until my feet were too tender to walk, sleeping with cream in socks—I’ve tried it all.

While these solutions did provide smoother, less dry looking heels, it’s only temporary while the callous slowly builds back up again.

I believe that people are either prone to this condition or not. I have many friends who never have to do anything and they naturally have these baby soft heels, but not me or my siblings and parents.

So last year, I discovered a simple trick that has worked miracles in preventing my heels from getting so dried out. Avoid sandals, flip flops and being barefoot and keep socks and shoes on whenever possible. I discovered that when my feet are in socks with shoes during the day, my feet stay moist, preventing the feet from ever getting dry…

I still get pedicures, sand down my heels and sleep with moisturizer on my feet occasionally because without these efforts, it would be impossible to have soft feet. But combined with keeping my feet covered with socks and shoes, it has truly been miraculous!

It took me years to figure this out, but it’s made a huge difference in the appearance of my heels. Don’t get me wrong, I still do wear sexy sandals and casual flip flops when I’m out and about, but as soon as I get home, I protect my feet.
