Everyone likes the concept of aging gracefully, but many opt to help Mother Nature by having cosmetic procedures. Keeping those procedures a secret certainly goes with the territory.

When someone has a cosmetic procedure such as Botox® Cosmetic, the goal is to keep it natural to avoid people noticing they had something “done.” When it comes to more invasive procedures like eyelifts and forehead lifts, hiding this fact can be trickier since the skin is being altered more drastically.  In either case, the art of distraction is often all you need.

Case in point:
I witnessed my friend’s husband who wanted to color his gray hairs, but was a little embarrassed to do so. He devised a clever scheme to make his new hair color go undetected by his co-workers. First, he grew a beard and his co-workers got used to this new look of having facial hair. Next, after two months, he colored his hair AND shaved off his beard. When he returned to work the next day, everyone was commenting that he no longer had a beard and no one even noticed his new non-gray hair color! While a few people did comment, “Something looks different,” he told them he shaved off his beard and they would reply “Oh yeah, that’s what it is.” End of story!…

Genius, huh? He used the art of distraction so his new hair color went unnoticed!

This technique can work even on more drastic measures.  If you’re getting cosmetic surgery, consider this little trick that also doubles as a great perk of a makeover.  Once you’re healed and ready to go back out in the public, get a dramatic new hair cut or hair color to distract people from noticing what really changed.  People will be too busy ooohing and ahhhing the obvious to notice the understated.
