As any beauty junkie knows, it is easy to get excited about new skincare lines.  Even though it is tempting to try everything at once, if you do and you get irritation or breakouts, you’ll automatically assume your skin can’t use them.  Don’t give up!  The truth of the matter is there might just be one product out of the collection that is bothersome.

When trying new products, I always suggest easing into the routine.  Start from most gentle and work up to discover any allergies:

Step 1: Cleanse (Cleansers are a wash off product, making it the least likely product to cause skin irritation and sensitivity.)
-Cleanse with new product.
-Use rest of your existing line.
-Wait two days – if no irritation, go to the next step.

Step 2: …
-Introduce the next product, like an alcohol-free toner. (Water-based products such as toners are good second items as they are gentle and very unlikely to cause problems.)
-Wait two days – if no irritation, continue introducing products in same manner.

Patch Test: If you know you are highly sensitive, or just want to be cautious, perform a patch test.
-Take a quarter size of product and apply to inner arm, somewhere out of sight (in case you have a reaction).
-Wait 48 hours to see if any redness occurs.
-If no problems, proceed with above steps.

Bottom Line: When trying new skin care lines, introduce products one at a time.  This way, it will be easier to identify any item giving you problems.
