Where did you grow up? The geographic location of your childhood can certainly influence how much sun you were exposed to. For example, for those of us who grew up in the Midwest where the winters are long and the summers are short probably didn’t spend as much time outdoors as someone who grew up in, say, California. Was your bathing suit your friend or foe? … As someone who has always had an extra 15 pounds on my body for most of my adult life, the last thing I ever wanted to do was to be in a bathing suit. So in high school, while my skinny friends loved to flaunt their tan, toned bodies on the beach or by the pool, I would make every excuse to not go! In this case, could one say that those who are overweight have better skin because they spent less time getting tan in a bathing suit? Since the #1 cause of wrinkles is sun exposure, it sure makes sense to me! Despite always wanting to be a skinny mini, maybe it worked out for the best—at least for my skin. The point of me talking about this is not to make anyone feel bad, because we cannot control our childhoods. Just simply to bring awareness of how lifestyle can affect the skin.
