If you struggled with acne during your teenage years, more than likely you used products formulated with drying, anti-bacterial ingredients to control breakouts. As you progress into your late teens and early 20’s, most people will outgrow their breakouts, but in their mind, they think it’s the acne products that made their breakouts go away.

This is a common scenario. We’ll have clients well into their 20’s, and 30’s that are still using the very same products they used during their teenage years, thinking that if they go off of them, their breakouts will come back.

I’m here to tell you that for most people, breakouts are a phase, not a lifelong struggle. Although there is a very small percentage of the population whose acne will continue well into their adult life, it’s usually not as severe as during their younger years.

It’s very important to treat your skin for what it is doing TODAY and not what it did in the past. The problem with using acne products in your adult years is that you’re drying out your skin and leaving it in an unhealthy state—and that’s compromising preventative skin aging.

My recommendation is to look through our nine skin types and pick out which concerns most sound like you. Once you use products that are suited for your confused skin, you’ll be sure to get the balance that your skin desperately needs to be healthy, clear and balanced…
