There is no doubt that not getting enough sleep can lead to dark circles. When you are lacking sleep, your body’s circulatory system is compromised and you get stagnant blood in the vessels under the eyes because it hasn’t properly drained. Also, the lack of drainage can results in excessive fluids around the eyes resulting in puffiness. Bottom line: when you are tired, you look tired! What to do for dark circles? … Apply a skin brightening eye cream with stable Vitamin C (like Renée Rouleau Vitamin C Eye Serum ). Use circular motions when applying eye cream to stimulate stagnant blood flow that can contribute to darkness. Follow with a good concealer. What to do for puffy eyes? Ditch the cucumbers. They don’t contain any miraculous puffiness-reducing properties but they do have a gel-like consistency (from the seeds) making it good for retaining cold temperatures—and it’s the cold that reduces puffiness.* Since it’s the cold that reduces puffiness, you can grab anything out of your refrigerator (ice, bag of frozen peas) and it will do the trick—as long as it is held on the area for at least 10 minutes. *The only type of puffiness that can be reduced from cold, is puffiness that is not normally there—like when you wake up in the morning. Unfortunately, there is no cure for chronic puffiness/bags except cosmetic surgery. Which type of food is most likely to cause under eye puffiness? Is your eye cream causing puffiness? Which skin care products are right for you?
