Skin Care Tip: The skin tissue around the eyes is extremely thin and fragile, so it’s so important to treat this wrinkle-prone area gently and avoid unnecessary rubbing.
When removing eye makeup, saturate cotton pad or Toning Cloth with an oil-free, liquid eye makeup remover. Hold on eyes for 20 seconds to dissolve makeup, then gently wipe away.
The key is to let the eye makeup dissolve so it makes for less rubbing and tugging of the eye area. And be sure to limit your use of waterproof mascara as it’s very difficult to remove.
Lastly, always use an eye cream to keep that delicate skin tissue hydrated and protected.

Why oil-free eye makeup remover? I thought oil was good for the skin??

While it is true that the eye area doesn’t produce oil and you should use an eye cream that has good moisturization in it, if you use an oil-based eye makeup remover, it most likely contains a heavy, greasy oil such as Mineral Oil. It then leaves a layer of “eye makeup dissolving” oil on the skin which prevents the “anti-wrinkle” oils in your eye cream from absorbing into the skin. The skin around the eyes can only take in so much so you want your eye cream to penetrate.

We do not suggest using any kind of oil to remove eye makeup. Here is a blog post that tells why (and be sure to read the comments from that blog post).
