Drying out your skin with harsh cleansers and alcohol-based toners only give you the immediate clean, oil-free sensation, but because they are so dehydrating, your skin pumps out more oil to compensate for the water loss. The result? Even oilier skin. Bottom line: Products for oily skin only make you oilier. Your best bet is to blot the skin with oil-blotting papers throughout the day to keep your skin shine-free. As a long time oil producer myself, I know how frustrating it is, but at almost age 40, I think having my own built-in moisturizer has kept my skin looking pretty good! Tip: Out of blotting papers? A quick fix is to blot skin with the paper toilet seat covers found in public restrooms. They are similar to oil-blotting papers. ![]() Content Copyright © 2012, Renée Rouleau, Inc PERMISSION TO REPRINT: You may use any items from this article in your print, blog, magazine or electronic newsletter. I blot my t-zone every couple of hours during the day, and it has helped so much that my acne has even lessened. Some types of napkins and paper towels work really well- especially those thin brown napkins found in some restraunts- I just grab a few extras and keep them in my purse when I am out.
