skincaretipSkin Care Tip of the Day: Did you know that the addition of fragrances or perfumes in skin care products is the #1 cause of allergic reactions? They have been used for years by cosmetic companies who understand that the scent can sell a product. After all, when you’re shopping for skin care products the first thing you usually do is open the jar and smell it. With the surge of plant-based ingredients and essential oils back in the 90’s, it’s possible to still use a great smelling product without the skin irritation.

Let’s discuss how to know if fragrances in skin care formulas are causing you problems. If your skin has a rash or dry itchy patches or little red bumps, this could be from the synthetic fragrance. Fragrance does not cause acne, it’s more of a rash-like reaction.

But honestly, even if you don’t have reactions, it’s always good to use less synthetic chemicals on the skin.

Look at the ingredients on your products and avoid products containing the words parfum, perfume or fragrance.

All of the Renée Rouleau skin care products DO NOT contain artificial perfumes! One of our popular products is our Triple Berry Smoothing Peel because not only is it a fabulous at-home professional peel to lighten brown spots and exfoliate the skin, but the smell is divine! It smells like a berry jam—but it’s due to the various types of fruits that are used. *Note: It is not suggested to spread on toast in the morning. We’ve had many clients tempted to do this! ;)

What is your favorite smelling Renée Rouleau product?
