Okay, I’ll give you a few other oil-reducing tips while I’m at it. Contrary to what you might think, using products for oily skin actually make your skin oilier. Crazy? It’s true! When you use a harsh cleanser, it strips not only the oil (which is a good thing) but in the process, it takes out the water, too. When your skin has been stripped of its water, it instantly dehydrates which is not healthy for your skin (your skin cells are like fish, they need water to live) and the skin starts to produce oil to compensate for the water loss. The end result is extreme oil production within 2-3 hours of washing. So if you’re someone that complains about being oily, and it’s only noon? Chances are, your cleanser is too harsh… No matter what, your cleanser should never, ever contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate. These are harsh detergents that dehydrate the skin and cause irritation. All of the Renée Rouleau gel cleansers will deep clean the oil out of the pores, but won’t disrupt the water balance your skin needs. ![]() Content Copyright © 2012, Renée Rouleau, Inc PERMISSION TO REPRINT: You may use any items from this article in your print, blog, magazine or electronic newsletter. Will drinking more water minimize oiliness?

Unfortunately not. Drinking water does not effect the skin very much, as much as you’ve been told it does.
